What is Growth Marketing?
Before the overwhelm kicks in, you don’t need to be an expert in growth marketing (or really even know what it is) to be an amazing wedding pro with a healthy business! However, knowing and understanding growth tactics & thinking could give your business the edge to grow and profit MORE.
So, What is Growth Marketing?
Growth marketing is a data-driven and experimental approach to marketing that focuses on rapidly and efficiently growing a business by identifying and leveraging opportunities for expansion. Essentially, you intentionally evaluate what works and what doesn’t–and then you do more of the formore! Unlike traditional marketing methods that might rely on established strategies and channels, growth marketing emphasizes experimentation, innovation, and quick actions to achieve significant business growth.
Let’s break it down…
Growth Marketing in FIVE:
1. Data-Driven Decision Making
Growth marketers heavily rely on data and analytics to make informed decisions. They measure various metrics and track user behavior to understand what strategies are effective and where improvements can be made. In my opinion, this is probably the most important aspect of growth marketing and the fastest, most effective way to a more profitable business.
2. Experimentation
Growth marketing involves testing a wide range of strategies, tactics, and ideas to see what works best. This could involve A/B testing, split testing, and other experiments to optimize campaigns and processes.
3. Rapid Actions & Iterations
Growth marketers iterate quickly based on the results of their experiments. They make adjustments, learn from failures, and optimize their approaches in a short time frame. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Quick actions & iterations will take you leaps forward in progress.
4. Focus on User Acquisition
I hope your eyes just lit up - this is all we want as wedding pros, right? While traditional marketing might focus more broadly on brand awareness, growth marketing is often more concerned with acquiring new customers (and retaining existing ones, but this doesn’t apply as often in the wedding industry). Referral programs, viral marketing, and personalized user experiences are all important techniques to the growth strategy.
5. Innovation
Growth marketers look for innovative ways to attract and engage customers. This could involve leveraging emerging technologies, social media trends, and new marketing channels. Don’t know what to do? Stalk the other wedding pros you admire in the industry, take what you like, and re-imagine what you could do slightly differently to make it yours.
It's important to note that growth marketing is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and its effectiveness can vary depending on the nature of the business and target audience. If you’re reading this, you’re probably in the wedding industry like I am. We are constantly trying to crack the code on lead generation because we rarely have repeat business.
